We need a truck to tow the Litter Gitter, so we are hosting "Shuck for a Truck," a series of oyster roast fundraisers. Join us this fall and winter for unforgettable evenings on the scenic shores of the Matanzas River. Be serenaded by local musicians, delight in an expertly prepared oyster roast, and enjoy the breathtaking views along the beautiful Matanzas River. Tickets are $50 and all proceeds will go towards helping us buy a truck.

Take the plunge into the icy Atlantic or show off your palate at this fun-filled event at the Guy Harvey Resort in St. Augustine Beach. A polar plunge, a costume contest, and a chance to taste chili in an International Chili Society-sanctioned cook-off! Proceeds benefit our organization, Matanzas Riverkeeper, to help us further our mission of protecting the health of our estuary. Don’t miss this spicy, chilly weekend of fun for a cause!

Join Matanzas Riverkeeper, St. Johns County, and St. Johns River State College for the 2025 New Year's Trash Bash and Vikings Day of Service. We will be hosting this event out of the Crescent Beach access. This event is part of the Get Hooked Anti-Litter Initiative and is a great way to help protect our beaches while earning community service hours. Supplies will be provided—just bring your reusable water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and closed-toe shoes!

The Litter Gitter program, an initiative by Matanzas Riverkeeper, engages community members in hands-on efforts to clean our waterways and educate them about marine debris and litter issues. The namesake of the program is the Litter Gitter II, a bright yellow, 24-foot Carolina skiff designed for efficient removal of large volumes of debris.
Through this program, we aim to keep our local waterways clean and healthy, while offering volunteers a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible impact.

Weed Wrangles are community volunteer events focused on protecting public parks and green spaces by removing non-native invasive species. Participants work with experts in invasive plant management to tackle harmful trees, vines, and plants through hands-on removal efforts. Volunteers learn to identify and manage invasive species while contributing to the long-term care of these spaces. February's Weed Wrangle will target Mother of Millions (Kalanchoe sp.) in collaboration with St. Johns County Parks and Recreation.
